What the Hell, Let's Make it Color Week!

Yesterday's post opened up a lot of exploration into colors, and while we're on the subject, we might as well take it to its logical extreme.

An intrepid commentator noted that a scenario is developing where the Irish could play not one, not two, but three consecutive games against opponents with color-themed mascots, should they be paired up with the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the Fiesta Bowl. This would not only be a great time, but it would also set a precedent in Notre Dame's storied history. In fact, rare are the occasions that the Irish have faced two schools with colors in their name in a row.

We'll keep you posted on developments. We couldn't go back any further than the 40's, as we don't have mascot information for the likes of Carnegie Tech or Great Lakes. Additionally, there might be inaccuracies in when nicknames were acquired. Anyone have an exact year when Georgia Tech ceased to be the Ramblin' Wreck?
