First Undefeated Team in Football

Congratulations to the Boston College Eagles, who at 8:29PM CT became the first undefeated team in college football. Would one of my knowledgeable readers please, please tell me what the hell the idea behind the "Swinging Gate" is?

The Swinging Gate: Less flashy than Communism, but equally impractical.

Don't have a clue what the idea behind that set up would be at that point in the game, but seeing most of the defense scramble to the far hash marks, I'd love to see what would happen if the QB pumped down-field and then tossed it over to the RB behind the O-line and TE... I think that would be a relatively safe play that could do some serious damage with the near side of the field mostly deserted. But, um, yeah, no idea what the hell CMU was thinking there, so never mind I guess.

I just don't understand why the O-line never broke formation. WTF?

That was one of the wierdest things I've ever seen on a football field.

This is why CMU is in the MAC. Eagles didn't look great, though.

yeah...bc was my pick for pick six for the unranked team. The fact that CMU racked up that many points makes me very unhappy.

the swinging gate can catch a defense napping and turn a big play. on a potential game winning drive i just don't see many defenses napping. it's also easy to get a procedure penalty with not enough men on the LOS. poor call. the line not moving is a gimmick that doesn't work anymore. no one is going to cover the line and single back with 5 or 6 players and on a pass they can't go downfield. the thought is if they stay motionless it might confuse a couple defenders.
