I Was Under the Impression There Would Be No Reading

Just a few quick articles for you to glance over:

  • More to Life than Football for Lineman, Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.
Close followers of Notre Dame football are vaguely aware of the tough times that Travis Leitko has been through over the past year, but this piece really clears up his journey and his indomitable spirit, if you will. Having met Travis a few times, trust me when I say he's a quality guy and has absolutely enormous hands. Fingers like sausages, I tell you.
  • USC All-American Jarrett reinstated, Yahoo Sports.
Welcome back, Mr. Jarrett. Let this serve as a warning to all of you college football players out there: don't even think about taking $18,000 in illicit benefits from a de facto booster unless you're prepared to do the time and miss a few offseason workouts. More than anything, this is indicative of the NCAA's very arbitrary manner of dealing with compromises to the amateur status of athletes. A handful of cash knocks Troy Smith out for two games, a small fortune in benefits and Myles Brand barely takes two seconds out of his daily schedule of pheasant hunting and racing Italian sports cars to laugh it off. To be honest, I'm not even disappointed by this case, I just crave some sort of meaningful consistency in rule enforcement rather than this "Spin The Punishment Wheel" policy.
  • Charlie Weis Post-Practice Interview, UND.com.
The first thing I do when I get home every day is fire up the practice report videos and the Weis press conferences. If you have reached peace with your college football addiction, this is a great way to get started falling off the wagon.
  • Name the Running Back Tandem Contest, NDNation.
"Thunder and Lightning" is so played out. My favorite: Peanut Butter Jelly time.
